FAQ

What do sessions cost?

I offer online sessions at £60 for 50 minutes, with flexible scheduling during evenings and weekends. Payment is by bank transfer, ideally received 24 hours before your session. If you need to cancel, please give 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged.

Do you offer a consultation call?

I offer a free 15 minute initial consultation so we can have a brief chat about what’s brought you to therapy and see if we feel like a good fit. There’s no pressure or commitment – it’s simply a chance for us to connect and for you to get a sense of how I work. Sometimes that initial conversation is all you need to know whether you’d like to take the next step.

How do we meet?

All sessions are currently online, making therapy accessible wherever you are. I use secure platforms that protect your privacy and confidentiality.

How often will we meet?

Most people find weekly sessions work best, giving enough time to process between meetings while maintaining momentum. We’ll find a regular day and time that works for your schedule.

How many sessions will I need?

This is entirely up to you. Some people find relief in just a few sessions, others work with me for months or longer. I suggest we initially commit to around 6 sessions, which gives us time to build trust and see how the work feels. We’ll regularly check in about what feels right for you.

What happens in our first meeting?

Our first session is about getting to know each other. I’ll ask what’s brought you to therapy and what you’re hoping for, while you can ask me anything about how I work. There’s no pressure – it’s simply a chance to see if we’re a good fit. The session lasts the full 50 minutes at the standard rate.

Is everything confidential?

Absolutely. Everything you share remains between us, with very limited exceptions around safety concerns. I’ll explain these clearly in our first session so you know exactly where you stand.

What’s your approach like?

As an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor, I blend person-centred and psychodynamic approaches. This means I believe deeply in your capacity for growth while gently exploring how past experiences shape present patterns. It’s not about me having all the answers – it’s about creating space where your own wisdom can emerge.

Do you offer reduced rates?

I currently volunteer as a counsellor at a substance abuse harm reduction organisation, which means I don’t have capacity for additional free or reduced-rate work at this time.

What’s the difference between counselling and psychotherapy?

The terms are often used interchangeably, but psychotherapy typically involves deeper, longer-term work exploring patterns and past experiences. As a psychotherapeutic counsellor, I can work both short-term and long-term depending on what you need.

Still have questions? The best way to get a sense of how we might work together is simply to reach out for a conversation.
